Overview
HP NonStop Open System Services (OSS) has become a major project consideration in the rollout of new applications like BASE24-eps™ and WebSphere MQ 5.3, for the latest HP NonStop environments.
With its UNIX style approach to programming and user interfaces, OSS enables the fast deployment and implementation of new and more modern applications on NonStop servers including the new HP NonStop Blade architecture (J series).
The Service Level Agreements (SLAs) offered by these large cutting edge software applications are very much reliant on the health and condition of the supporting OSS infrastructure, both hardware and software.
ITL provide software that gives you complete monitoring, management (Reflex) and batch job scheduling (MultiBatch) coverage for the OSS environment (and Guardian environment) - providing rapid troubleshooting and subsequent recovery for failing processes, PATHWAY servers and batch jobs.
The ITL OSS software components provide both real-time visuals and historical event look-up for the stability and availability of OSS resources and batch schedules. OSS alerts can be escalated to Enterprise Managers (HP Operations Center™, BMC Performance Manager™, Tivoli™), Mobile SMS, SNMP, Email or a graphical alerting screen, Windows browser, GUI or both.
Reflex enables instant root-cause problem spotting, providing a one-stop concurrent, graphical visual to real-time and historical OSS EMS (enriched) events without the need for Guardian, TACL level expertise.
Reflex provides easy configuration for enabling visual and audible alerts to highlight events requiring attention, e.g. PATHWAY or process issues, fileset failure, OSS fileset near full and inode availability at risk.
Reflex not only delivers availability and health information for OSS components, but also the underlying HP NonStop platform itself (all currently available hp NonStop nodes are supported; ServerNet, Integrity and Blades).
Regardless of the underlying cause of OSS system and application problems, Reflex gives you an all-seeing visual - from OSS applications, Guardian applications including Pathway to vulnerable and critical HP NonStop resources.
When you require a graphical integrated view into your OSS applications and underlying hp NonStop resources, hardware or software, you need Reflex.
When you require optimised and best-performance scheduling of your OSS and Guardian application job schedules you need Multibatch.

Hardware and software pre-requisites for the Reflex product are detailed below:
• HP NonStop (ServerNet or Integrity platforms)
• Guardian D38 Operating System (or above)
• TMF
• SQL runtime system (SQL/MP runtime), or alternatively, NonStop SQL product
• Pathway (TS/MP)
• TCP/IP
• Non-RDF/DRNET Audited Volume *
* It is recommended that Reflex is installed on a Non-RDF/DRNET Audited Volume. If this is a cause for concern, please contact Insider Technologies Ltd to discuss further.
Reflex is installed using a menu driven TACL macro for easy deployment. The macro will perform checks and output the results of each stage of the Reflex product install so that if problems are encountered they can be resolved easily.
